Campground Near Rocky Mountain National Park

Your Base Camp for Rocky Mountain National Park

Riverview RV Park & Campground sits on the Big Thompson River just west of Loveland, Colorado, at the start of the US-34 route that climbs through Big Thompson Canyon to Estes Park and the park's east entrances. Estes Park is about 23 miles up the road [CONFIRM: typical drive time to Estes Park and to the Beaver Meadows entrance], which makes Riverview an easy base for day trips into the park while you sleep somewhere quieter and closer to Loveland's groceries, restaurants, and services.

We're a family-owned park with 159 sites: full-hookup RV sites, pull-through sites for larger rigs, back-in sites right on the river, wooded sites, tent sites, two cabins, and a tiny home. Whatever you're traveling in, there's a spot for it.

Getting Into the Park: Timed Entry Permits

During peak season, Rocky Mountain National Park requires a timed entry reservation to enter during the busiest hours. For 2026, permits are required from May 22 through mid-October. The standard Timed Entry permit covers 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Timed Entry + Bear Lake Road permit covers 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is needed to drive the Bear Lake Road corridor.

Reservations are made only through Recreation.gov for a $2 processing fee, separate from the park entrance fee or pass. New dates open at 8 a.m. Mountain Time on the first of each month for the following month, and a limited number are released the evening before each day. Arrive before the permit hours begin and you don't need a reservation at all, which is an easy early start from Riverview.
